From September 18 to 21, we participated in the VII International Congress on Biodiversity and Nature Conservation (Conserbio 2025), held in Seville at the Pablo de Olavide University and the CABD. This event, which originated in southern Spain and has already become one of the best platforms for young Spanish-speaking researchers, brings together professionals and students from many different fields of ecology and conservation, attracting researchers from the Americas.
The congress, multidisciplinary in nature, once again stood out for the large number of presentations and for fostering an open space for the exchange of ideas, outreach, and collaboration between science, management, education, and society.
TEOSS contribution
We presented a poster with the results of the training sessions held in 2024 and 2025 as part of the European TEOSS project, which already includes five training events in bioacoustics and citizen science focusing on Orthoptera. The poster can be downloaded at the following link: Results of two years of citizen science and outreach project.
Our participation aroused genuine interest in the use of bioacoustic methods applied to the study of Orthoptera. In addition, both the small sample of displayed Hymenoptera and the Casares Biodiversity Notebooks attracted great attention, reinforcing the importance of accessible and well-designed educational materials for environmental outreach.
The collaborative atmosphere was complemented by the organic breakfasts offered by Mercado Social La Rendija, whom we thank for their effort and sustainable commitment. We felt at home with these “animated” breakfasts, which are still not common enough in events of this kind.
A successful congress
Conserbio 2025 has been, without a doubt, a very successful congress, which allowed us to reunite with colleagues and friends and open up new networking and collaboration opportunities. We leave with the satisfaction of having contributed to an event that continues to grow as an international benchmark in the world of conservation and that drives the active role of young people and professionals in the defense of biodiversity. Thank you very much, CONSERBIO, and see you next time.
